BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Obi Obtained the MBBS degree in 1998 from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka Anambra State Nigeria, Fellowship of the National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2008, a Masters in Public Health in 2009 from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is currently a Senior Lecturer [lecturing ‘Communication for Health’ to MPH students, Epidemiology and Community Directed Intervention (CDI) to undergraduate students] and is a Honorary Consultant to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Staff and Occupational health Clinic/Chest Clinic.
Residency training for the fellowship in Public Health Medicine (2002 – 2008), was strengthened by personal improvement efforts acquiring skills and competencies that have enabled the diligent execution of several short term consultancy assignments as a health development consultant during same period and beyond. Two years of this period of residency, involved coordinating the training activities of fellow residents in the department as Chief Resident. He has been member or lead on committees/boards of his department, faculty and college and university. Research endeavours and publications have been a part of the process, while being happily married with children. He has demonstrable core competencies in Health Promotion Advocacy and Communication, Data Management and Analysis, Monitoring and Evaluation, HMIS, Training/Curriculum Development, Integrated Supportive Supervision [ISS], Strategic planning, Social Development – Community participation and Participatory approaches, Change management, Institutional Capacity Building, NGO/CBO development and Governance Evaluation. His research interests include: Health Communication, Health Promotion, Primary Health Care and Epidemiology. |
