BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

Prof. (Mrs.) Chika Nwanma Onwasigwe holds an MBBS degree from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. She is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in Community Health (FWACP) and a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Public Health (FMCPH). Her areas of interest are Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Medical Research.
Currently she is a Professor with the Department of Community Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Nigeria Enugu Campus with effect from 1st October 2004. She has acted as the Head of Department of Community Medicine and Coordinator of the Master of Public Health Training Programme of the University of Nigeria.
She has successfully supervised over 300 undergraduate medical students and postgraduate students at the Master’s (over 50), Doctoral (3) and Fellowship (over 15) levels at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus and other universities east of the Niger. She has acted as External Examiner to various universities in south-eastern Nigeria, and an Examiner at the West African College of Physicians and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. She has attended many conferences both within and outside the country. She has written three mainline university textbooks in epidemiology, biostatistics and medical research. She has published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed local and international journals.
Prof. Onwasigwe is a member of many professional and academic bodies including the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Nigerian Medical Association, Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, International Epidemiological Association, Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria and others.
